Adelaide | Kevin Chim, Resident Physiotherapist

Resident Physiotherapist

With a growing interesting in the human anatomy and its biomechanics, Kevin switched majors to begin his journey to becoming a Physiotherapist. Graduating with a Master’s degree in Physiotherapy in 2018, he continues to practise while expanding his skill set with extra-curricular courses such as dry needling, cupping, taping, and other joint movement techniques.

1. Why should patients choose you as their provider instead of others in the area?

I am a Physiotherapist with experience in seeing a variety of populations ranging from children to elderly, assessing and rehabilitating various conditions related to the musculoskeletal and neurological systems. I enjoy using different techniques and assistive tools such as dry needling, cupping, joint mobilizations, muscle release, myofascial release, and taping to name a few. The most important aspect during the session is to find the simplest and most effective intervention that helps maximize the patient’s recovery.

2. What are the top 3 treatments that you specialize in?

Out of the different treatments in my toolbox, my treatment approach will mainly consist of 3 treatment approaches to maximize recovery. The 3 are active participation in tailored exercises, soft tissue release, and joint mobilizations.

3. What are you proud of in your practice?

Conveying kindness, empathy, and being communicative are aspects I regularly incorporate into my practise. This in turn allows the patient to feel they are in a safe space and to feel that we are able to tackle their problem as a team. Of course, the proudest moments are when they leave feeling better (and stay that way).

4. Which cases do you enjoy treating? Why?

I enjoy treating problems related to muscles, joints, and skeletal injuries because for the most part, if rehabilitation is done right, you are more likely to see improvements and return to normal activity in a reasonable time.
