Why should patients choose you as their provider over others in the area?
After working in the field of Mental Health therapy for 7 years, I found there was something missing in the field, something clients could not emotionally and mentally connect with. As a result, I decided to seek out how traditional societies and cultures around the world respond to mental health concerns and spent a further year living and learning in a Mindfulness Meditation centre in Thailand, that provided mental health care for people suffering from a variety of mental health issues such as depression, anxiety and loss. I continued that education by studying how other cultures and traditions treat mental health in North America, Europe, Asia, and the Middle East.
What are you proud of in your practice?
I have a unique perspective and education which comes from the education I had in university, and the one I sought out from the world. I do not practice “Ticky Box Therapy” where Medical Professionals try to fit the mind into a tiny, confined, box with endless questionnaires which claim to label you, yet rarely are able to accurately capture the essence of who you are, or why you are the way you are. This is because what makes you who you are, is Your Life, and Your story. And your Life story cannot fit into a little box.
While some assessments can be helpful in understanding the causes or symptoms of mental health issues, it is important to remember, when we treat mental health by trying to put the mind into a box, what we get is a tiny, little box claiming to represent the vastness of the mind. What I try to work with instead, is the vastness of the mind, the part of You that can be reading this, but thinking about something else, perhaps pondering something in the past, or worrying about something in the future. I like to work with that You. The Real You. The whole You.
I treat a wide range of mental health concerns including Depression, Trauma, Addiction, Anxiety, Grief and Loss, and Relationship Issues. I practice from a client-centered perspective, which means I meet my Clients where they are, emotionally and mentally, in a way that is unique to them. I do not utilize a One-Size-Fits-All approach to Mental Health, and strongly believe each person’s treatment needs to be unique to that particular person. What works for one person, may not work for another. And what worked for you before, may or may not work for you now. This is because we are all a product of our own unique lives, and because no two lives are the same, your mental health treatment should also reflect this.
What are the top treatments you specialize in?
Some of the Therapeutic Methods I use are Mindfulness, Trauma Release, CBT, and Inner Child Work. I also specialize in a unique Psychotherapy Informed Reiki Therapy – A combination of modern therapeutic techniques with traditional scientific energy healing therapies.
